Hi

I wish to make background for website with similiar photo effects (some kind of stripes) like these two web examples have.

Could you point me in right direction - some good and simple tutorial?

Thanks

In whatever graphics you want to use, obviously open them in Ps. Now click on Filter>FilterGallery.. A GUI will open. For the kind of effect you want, I would use anything in the Artistic, Brush Strokes, or Distort menu.

You can get this effect by creating a pattern. Basically you create a square document with a limited size (in this case 4x4 pixels, a larger size will increase the distance between the individual lines)) and use the pencil tool after you zoom in to create a diagonal line on a transparent layer (hide the default background). Select the complete canvas and make a pattern out of this as shown in the screenshot.

If you want to use the pattern, grab the paint bucket tool and set it in the options bar at the top to pattern, select your pattern and you're done. Use the opacity slider in the layers palette to increase transparency if required.
