Does anyone know if this effect where lines get thicker and thinner to create an image/shape is called?
I've seen photo's replicated in this effect so I suspect there may even be a photoshop filter or something that does it automatically.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The AT&T Logo is hand illustrated, but the effect you're looking for has various names. In the past, we've referred to it as a "sliced" logo or a "cutline" graphic. Photoshop does not do this effect automatically but there is a PS Plug-in that does, however it's not free. http://www.andromeda.com/main/cutline.php
