When changing font on perfectly aligned picture, some enlarges more than others

On my picture, I have several text layers (it's necessary). I aligned them so that it looked like one rectangle of text via font size and stuff like that. However, I decided to change the font type so I clicked inside one layer, messed around with font size, justification settings, kerning, etc. until it fit the layer with the new font style (this one naturally took up more space so I lowered the Auto Leading, for example). Then, when I applied the settings to the rest of the layers, some were perfect whereas others immediately took up way more space. I don't know why that would be. In the picture I have attached, there are actually three text layers. Before, you couldn't tell where one started and the other stopped. Now, you can definitely see where two of them overlap, but the other two are perfect (the top one is too big). FYI, I'm only talking about the blue text right now.

Why is this, and how can I fix it? I changed these settings:
Auto Leading in Justification to 110%
Font: Verdana
Size: 4.94
Kerning: Optical
Font type: Sharp

If something wasn't clear, please tell me so I can clarify! Thanks!

The only reason I can come up with...

Font types differ and do not share the same characteristics in kerning or even individual character dimensions. Which is why when you apply the adjusted settings with another font type, everything will go askew.

If it works better in Illustrator , probably that's because Illustrator handle text differently than Photoshop.
