I want to extract a circular mandala from a rectangular picture. so I put it in Photoshop and use the magic wand and clicked in the corners all around the circular bit and pressed 'delete'. I got the black and white checkerboard all around the circular bit and I figured I was done.
I saved it as a jpg but when I went to use it I got a rectangular pic wherever I pasted it, with, of course, the circular mandala in the centre and blank white all around.
My understanding is obviously severely limited.
What is it we must to do literally eradicate portions of a pic and then save it so's the saved pic when used will only be the bits we want - won't have any 'blank' portion, won't retain the shape of the original?
