resize photos

I spend a great deal of time reading,, about it.

I need help with understanding what I need to do about printing photos at custom size, Iwant to do this myself, and I want to select my sizes and then copy the pictures into a disk for professional printing shop as they are better quality than my printer.

I have 5x7 cm to 20 x30cm for my restore old photos. Your help is appreciated very much.
There is so much involvement in software program for editing, is ''frustrating this manuals.

Hello there
what you need to do is go up to the Image menu at the top of the screen and select "Image Size" from the list of options. This will bring up the Image Size dialog box, as shown below:

and adjust the width and the height to suit your printing standards !!

Hi

• There are pixel dimension, resolution , proportion,and document size, etc and when I try to coustom size all other numbers change automatically from the above boxes,

• also sometimes I change the size but the picture is cropped instead meaning the some of the picture is missing . THanks

5x7 cm is pretty tiny, so I'm going to assume you mean 5x7 INCHES. Either way, image SIZE is not as important as image RESOLUTION. For instance if your image is 5in x 7in at 72ppi it will be of MUCH lower quality than the same file at 300ppi. Images sent to be printed should be a minimum of 300ppi for best results. If you're enlarging for poster sized images you can get away with 180ppi in a pinch. Ideally, work your images at the highest size/resolution possible. It's always better to resize down rather than up. Also, your sizes have to be proportional. 5x7 does not enlarge proportionally to 20x30. It enlarges to 20x28. For your purposes, try working on images at 10in x 14in @ 360dpi. This will allow comfortable resizing up to 20x28 @ 180ppi and plenty of resolution to resize down to 5in x 7in @ 300ppi. Hope this helps. I know this can be confusing.

your original question isn't clear.

Are you simply trying to enlarge your existing photographs? If so, then changing the resolution won't matter. Just enlarge the physical dimensions.

I don't see how changing the resolution will matter anyways. If the photos are at 72dpi to begin with, then enlarging that to 300dpi isn't going to make a difference when printing them out. The photos would have had to been shot at 300dpi to begin with.


so you need to clarify what exactly you're trying to do here first.
