    You an also use Select>Color Range and choose Shadows: Click OK and result: The follow the rest of the steps, ie Expand Selection, Content Aware Fill, and cleanup. :)

    The "intelligence" in AI can be misleading. Unless there is a fairly large amount of area surrounding the element you want to "fill", it will pick up lots of different artifacts. Including parts of what you're trying to eliminate. Same problem occurs with the Remove tool. Here's what I tried -...

    I went back to my transferred file - and the one you downloaded - and I see a file that is 50% larger than what you posted. Not sure what the problem is then so for now I'll bow out of this project.

    Took a try ad ran it thru Gigapixel - increased size by 50% to 3072px X 96px. Kept the resolution the same - 72 ppi. See if this works for you...first time working with this type of file... https://we.tl/t-KQnK8wdPJ8
