    Looking at the materials map I assume you're working in PS 3D. I started working with 3D in PS but moved on to a 'real' 3D program. As @IamSam stated you'll need to use a bump map to achieve that effect. Here's a nice simple tutorial on 'how to':

    I can't beat Iamsam's method but I'll still propose mine. It is a bit cheating but it is Photoshop... You could remove the props, draw a black rectangle on the position of one part and apply a spin blur to it. You'll need to make the end of the prop rounder by using a mask and a hard brush...

    Just a quick test... I used the camera raw filter in luminance and played with the sliders until I got a soft look. I repeated it. With a mask I got rid of the parts not in need of softness. I added a purple color layer in soft light blend mode and reduced the opacity. You can dodge and burn...

    It's fair to assume a plug-in style 'Imagenomic Portraiture 3 (http://imagenomic.com/Products/Portraiture)' was used with extreme settings. Adding a color cast would be the next step.
