    Newbie - Logo thoughts

Does "Tackle" refer to fishing gear? If so, perhaps the X can be a pair of crossed fishing poles.

I don't know if anyone else would be interested, but here's an icon I created for my desktop as a shortcut to the forum. I'll attach the icon here to share. Doc

    Adding a Hit Counter

First, I hope you all had a great Christmas. :} For a new home page, I wanted a little something different for a 'hit counter'. So, using Image Ready, I put this together: Here's the link to the test page...everytime you refresh the page, the counter will roll over one more number...

Juke Box created with Image Ready

Duh... ;\ It appears my site can be reached with or without the www. in the URL address. By accessing without the w's, the guest page works (I think). :\ I've updated the links in my original posts. At least I learned something today...oh, and it's a Yahoo account. 2 gb of webspace for...

Juke Box created with Image Ready

Actually, I use FP 2002. I assume you tried to post a comment at the Guest Page and got an error? I did a test 'comment' and it accepted it...and one other person has left me a comment also. Maybe the extensions on my ISP are intermittent. Thanks for the heads up and I'll have to look into...

Juke Box created with Image Ready

Just a note to let you know I have reopened my website. My juke box has almost eighty songs...mostly from the 40's, as in 'Big Band' music. Here's the link if you'd care to check it out: http://glewis.us/v7th_Recon/jukeboxlabeled1.htm The website itself is a support site for a WWII game...

    image ready and video

Thanks for the comments. This was just an idea to make the video appear to be shown on the movie screen. I usually have any video set to open with the media player rather than hidden like this one: http://members.lycos.co.uk/genelewis/video.htm Welles, did you move your cursor over the...

    image ready and video

Thanks for the reply. I use IE6 and the 'broken image icon' shows there too until the file loads. The video is about 6 mb in size so it's possible the video hadn't finished loading for you yet. I realize the delay in loading isn't good web etiquette but I did the page for a group of members...

    image ready and video

Boy, it's been a long time since I've posted...although I visit often. [oops] I thought someone might be interested in a web page I just finished. I wanted to embed a video within a picture so this is what I did: The background was sliced using image ready and a small video was inserted in...

Animated Snow. How was it made?

Here's a direct link to the webpage with the 'snow' script: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex3/snow.htm Just be sure the snow flake image is saved in the same directory as the script. The script itself is just copy/pasted on the web page you want it to show...just below the <body>...

    Tutorial creation software

For those of you that create such great tutorials for the members here, or for anyone for that matter, I thought you might be interested in this free software. Here's a quote from the Home Page of Wink, the software in mind. Here's the link: http://www.debugmode.com/wink/ Doc

Animated Snow. How was it made?

On the main page of this message board, where you see the snow flakes, click on 'View' in your browsers toolbar at the top. Scroll down to 'source' and click on that. A text window will open. Scroll down til you find: You will find the snow javascript at the altan.hr website. Doc

Standard pixel dimensions for a cd case cover?

You could also use a program that automatically resizes your cover to fit. There's one called CoverXP that works very well and they offer a free version. I use it to create my dvd case cover labels. There are templates for many paper templates such as Neato labels or you could print on a...

    Going from Photoshop to Dreamweaver...

Once you've sliced an image you want to add to your website with Photoshop, open Image Ready and choose File>save as. Select 'HTML and images' and save to a folder on your hard drive. This creates a web page with your image within a table, borders set to '0' and a folder named 'images' that...

    BLURY FONTS

Thanks for the critique and kind words... my goal was to try to emulate a 'professional' dvd movie case label which tends to be very 'busy'. The text I rasterized was for the cast names on the back cover. If you've noticed on most movie covers, that font tends to be very narrow. I have been...

    BLURY FONTS

Here's a shot of a dvd case cover I made from scratch. The images are screen captures from the movie and the main title text on the back of the case was done using 'selections'. The rest of the text is Times New Roman and I rasterized some to 'scale' it. This is a reduced size image...

To much space at the bottom of a page

Thanks for the tip Mark. Here's a photo gallery I've had up at my site for awhile....created with PS7. http://www.glewis.net/Oriskany/index.htm It's a Life Magazine article from Nov of 1966 and it covers the fire we suffered while I was stationed aboard the USS Oriskany. I hope someone takes...
