    Chroming/Bronzing

It's difficult. The reason for this difficulty is chrome is highly reflective. It's one of the attributes that makes chrome, chrome. The basic effect is started by desaturating your picture. Then you smooth out the features with diffusion and median. Once you have done this you play with...

    Strange clouds...

The clouds are real, ooptea. However, feel free to try to paint them if you like. :D The middle one has some heavy Mammatus. Usually a sign of severe weather. The top one is of lenticular clouds. Love the lower pictures. Very spectacular.

Leave it to those crazy Canadians!

Erik, you are quite right about Wilheim Reich being the discoverer of orgone energy. I had a slip of the mind when I credited Tesla. For some reason I often confuse these two men with each other. Orgone energy is an interesting phenomena that unfortunately does not seem to be being...

Leave it to those crazy Canadians!

Absolutely amazing. His angel light reminds me of Tesla's orgone experiments. The negative effects seem to mimic what Tesla claimed about his "death ray."

    Challenge - Metallic wolf

Your advice is always welcome, theKeeper Kiwi, nice one. :} Here's my try using hue/saturation, curves, diffusion, and find edges. I aso tried to make a reflection map with displace but not sure if it works. The displacement map was tough.

    Challenge - Metallic wolf

I want to thank ooptea for the idea and the image for this challenge. The challenge is to make the wolf appear to be made of shiny metal. It can be gold, silver, copper, nickel, chrome, whatever... as long as it is shiny and reflective. Participants can view the original thread for some...

    Book Covers

Yay Lily! Wonderful book covers. I especially like the Be a Survivor color pallet. What inspired you to go with orange and blue? Nice background effect. Now don't you forget about us when you are all rich and famous and everything. :P

    Movie Poster

    Great work ljiljana. I absolutely love the red, white, and black poster. If I remember my "responsive chord" training, this combination has the highest impact on the viewer because it is the easiest to read. The collage poster is wonderful. It gives a feel for the tone of the movie. :}

    how to make "playboy" effect

There are several ways of doing this. The quickest and simplest is to copy your layer and apply gaussian blur at 3 pixels to the copied layer. After you have done this, turn the opacity of the blurred layer to 30% or less. You should now have your effect. It's called a soft focus. You may...

    Convincing cloth challenge...

I know what you mean. I was going for a patiche (spelling?) look but it came out far more intense than I intended. You can see the crumpled look by the distortion of the pattern but the shading can't compete with the colors. I'll submit another attempt in a day or so. Right now I am so wiped...

    Convincing cloth challenge...

Here's a try at crumpled cotton cloth. I used a similar technique as Welles.[/b]

quick and simple photo enhancing (3 techniques).

Another good variation of this technique is to copy the green channel and paste it as a layer above the poor photo layer. Set the blend mode to Luminosity. Soft Light or OverLay can also work.

Well, tell us where you are getting stuck on theKeeper's tutorial and we can help you along with it. It's probably the best you'll find on the web. The secret to chrome is contast. Use gradients to make your knobs then up the contrast with curves. You can also use the layer blend modes...

    comments on make over

:P Heeheehee... After you use the diffuse filter try Edit/Fade to adjust the effect. Skin that is too smooth looks fake. Also watch the edges of the nose, the eyes, and ears for too much softness. Otherwise, you can end up with someone with unfinished features. Masking helps.

Nice work. The nose is a little too soft but the rest of the makeover is good. For a real workout, make her blonde with green eyes. :D
