    How can I stop this from looking rubbish?!

    i like backlit subjects , in this instance there was just too many blown highlites distracting me , i didnt try too fix the hightlites just reduce the blown areas leaving some backlighting , the major blown area in her hair was just too much imo , my edit was a very quick fix id spend a lot more...

    if you want the light on the body just have the original layer , then put the new layer with the child out on top ,add a layer mask and paint with a soft brush the area of light you want

    yeah rookie mistake , got to get into the habit of resizing on duplicate layer saving for web and deleting then going back too the original if i want too do more edits

    i just tried copying the adjustment layers ie hue , exposure and that worked , couldnt copy all the cloning as the file size diffenece it doesnt work

    yep what ever the client wants mate , i agree with tom , i like the look of an aged photo but remove the major damage , if i spent another four hours on the image id get it pretty good id think but your right its what the client wants is important

    lot of work too do if i wanted too do it right , spent a quick half hour or so , still a lot of work though just thought id make a quick start , try the patch tool if you wanted too keep going with it

    invest in a book on how too use utube lol , video tutorials are far easier too learn from and they are plentiful

    it has been done poorly with layers , lol the dog is not suspended if thats what you mean , depending on the quality of your photo its not hard too do properly do you have a picture of your dog , ill have a crack at it for you if you give me an idea of exactly what you want
