    CS6 not reading folder

You are correct and it is my mistake. I'm thinking of Sys File Checker! I will run ChkDsk; I know it finds bad sectors.

    CS6 not reading folder

No, I have not tried chkdsk. I have run it in the past, I am never happy when doing so. I have quite a number of programs installed, many of them free or shareware. They all run just fine. But when chkdsk runs, it finds too many files that it does not like. The options are to ignore or...

    CS6 not reading folder

As such, have not had any sucess, but have found a clunky work-around. Bridge only starts from within CS6 when selecting File/Browse in Bridge and to date, I have not been able to find how to make Bridge start with CS6. However, that is somewhat irrelevant now. I did uninstall (again) and...

    CS6 not reading folder

Thanks; interesting. Didn't know that but I also don't think I have any paths that would exceed 255. At the moment, I don't have CS6 installed but am going to try again. Can only reiterate that the same issue does not occur with CS3 so I can only image that the path names are OK.

    CS6 not reading folder

Reasonable point and where would I look for that? However, I have three HDD installed plus a desktop caddy. In total, the installed HDD have 15 partitions and that includes three drive letters that for the free USB ports. the desktop caddy is only generally used when I do back-ups. Partition...

    CS6 not reading folder

Agreed. But I can see and open all folders when using Cs3 / Bridge. One of the Google difficulties I am encountering, is CS3 (and 6) are old enough that all Google searchs bring up CC stuff. For example, when I initially installed CS6, I let it go to the default Adobe folder. That was fine...

    CS6 not reading folder

I am no further forward with my issue, so decided to uninstall and reinstall, to see if that forced CS6/ Bridge to read all the partitions. Unless I am mistaken, CS6 does not have an Uninstall.exe file? So using Properties, Find Target, I ran Revo Unistaller on CS6. The result was that it...

    CS6 not reading folder

Yes. I made a bit of an error in my initial question. Bridge fires up OK and lists all the partitions, similar to how XP Explorer does. That is how I like it. I have three HDD with various partitions; all are listed. They all show up in XP Explorer and with my old CS3. If I select a...

    CS6 not reading folder

What ho one and all, OK, so I am a long way behind the curve! For years I have been using CS3 on XP with no problems. I have finally, up-graded to try CS6 (also on XP.) On the surface all seems to be fine but the learning curve is steep! I have three HDD in the computer with many folders...

    Tidying PhotoShop

Good idea; thanks. I already have a couple and an image of the OS, so if it all goes AWOL, 20 mins later, I should be back.

    Tidying PhotoShop

What ho one and all, I am using CS3; it does what I want and since I only have XP which is limited to 3gb memory, it is not really worth upgrading everything. Certainly, I would like more memory, but ................ I was 'cleaning' various computer files recently and found so many Adobe /...

    File size

Didn't think of doing that. Figured the options avaiable where the only options. However, I would say that I am using CS3 with whatever the default ACR is. I am happy with CD3, it does what I want but am unable to upgrade ACR without upgrading Ps as well. There are certainly more useful...

    File size

Thanks for your reply. Now that you mention it, there probably is a difference in the file saving quality. When saved from ACR, I have the quality setting on Max, but the numerical box displays 10. From PS, it is possible to go up to 12. That probably accounts for it. Why would Adobe not...

    File size

What ho one and all, I normally shoot for stock and my MO is shoot RAW, open with ACR, fiddle around and save as the largest pixel offering in 16 bit tif. Then I have plenty of leeway for PS editing. However, I have been doing a bit of pro bono work for my local parish council; pretty much...

    Temp file space

MrTom thanks for the explanation. Makes sense. May be the issue was caused by me stiching four, 70 mb images together to make a panorama. Seem to remember the file size was around 240mb and then some adjustment layers, etc. Probably pushing my system more than it liked.

    Temp file space

"Did the error message stop? It's a process of elimination." Sorry, kinda misread your post. No, the error did not stop because PS filled the Temp partition again. My Temp partition was set up to reduce the amount of c**p that Windoze write to the OS. So I try to have anything temp, sent...

    Temp file space

Not sure I understand your point? As far as I am aware temp files are temp files and can by their name, be deleted. But my question is regards why, when I have the PS Scratch Disk set to partition J, with plenty of space, is PS using a different partition (Temp) which is not only considerably...

    Temp file space

What ho one and all, Running CS3 on XP with the max ram that XP will allow (3gb!) (I know, why don't you upgrade?) I have a Temp file partition of 5gb on the first hdd for what it says on the box. And I have a Photoshop scratch disk as the first partition on the second hdd with 12gb. Today...

    Reinstalling Photoshop

Gentleman, Thank you for your assistance; I think I have found the simple answer to my problem, namely, delete the Bridge cache file. Since doing that, and the file is recreated, Bridge has been SOOOOO much more stable. Must remember that for next time! Toodle pip Rex
