fading a picture

Actually I have two questions. How do you create the wavy lines in this postcard? Also how to you fad out the picture and fad the color into the picture?

You can achieve this effect by using the pen tool to draw two diffrent shapes and then lower the opacity on one of them.

how do you fade the color?

Lower the opacity on the second shape to around 50%.

no not that....i mean fad the color into the picture so the color fads out and the picture fads in.

I think I know what you mean....

On your original stock picture make a new layer on top and add a linear gradient from grey to transparent.

Yep. Missed that part. I had tunnel vision. Sorry.

But in this case...

The blurred out background has the gradient on top of that and the people sat in the chairs where added in later.
