Filters very slow?

Hi guys, I am new both in here and with Photoshop.

I was wondering if there are some photoshop filters which are very slow in processing images.
For example images of 0.2GB, 0.5GB, or even 1GB can be processed in few seconds with all filters? Or there are some filters requiring a longer time, something like minutes?

coz I'm an optimizer and I was wondering whether I can improve existing filter performance. In order to do that, I need to understand whether it makes sense to optimize: 10s to 7s is not a very interesting optimization, while 10m to 7m might be.
 
Intresting. When i was young to optimize something there was a need to know algoritm. Today it doesn't?

P.S. No i don't know. But you can give give extremly low RAM memory to PS work with. It will slow everything.

No, I don't.

I just want to know whether there exist some common filters that are typically slow not because they are bad implemented, but just because the are innerly complex.

It does, in fact I am a software and software/hardware engineer with 10years of experience in the field. My goal is to optimize and possibly sell filters with optimized implementation which make use of some hardware features rarely used. I am not talking about filters requiring 5/10 seconds to be applied on an image of 500/600MB and on a special-purpose machine. I am talking about an image, being processed on a dedicated machine, whose filtering require minutes.

I am not looking for a way to be slow, I am looking for some filters which are slow-by-construction, maybe because they perform many matrix multiplications or an exponential computation.

Some filters will run slower than others on the same machine on the same image depending on how complex the adjustment is.
With a fast computer with plenty of Ram it won't be very noticeable.
Image size of course is a factor too.
