Can't make out the first 20% but yhe rest could be Gettysburg, Gattinbey, Gatt**hey?
Could be a capital S instead of G?

Maybe it was Sir William Littlesbury, I'm not sure, but if you give us a bit more info on where the image came from and such, we will be better placed to put the image into some sort of context for research, rather than a few squiggles.

it's "signature (by direction of commanding officer)"
on a guys seperation papers from the navy in 1946.
basicelly when this friend of mine got discharged from the navy in 1946 he took them folded it up and put it in his wallet ffor ever and now i am trying to make out what the singture is for him.
