I have 10,000 plus images on my PS6 and am plagued by some corrupted files which have not been corrected (initially did not load via Organizer)

What is my Approach? 1. Reload via Organizer and save on top of old files? (not all files were corrupted). Or 2. Remove PS6 and start over ? If so what is the best approach? or 3. A sexy clean miraculous efficiient way to identify and purge only the corrupt files.

BTW loading PS6 removed CS4 Bridge and editor. I thot the old version could be retained. I :banghead:

I responded to that in another thread.

What programs are we talking about here.
In your initial thread you said PS Elements 11, here you're saying PS6 which is what, Photoshop 6, Elements 6, Photoshop CS6?
You're also talking about Bridge from CS4.

You're going to be clearer and more detailed about your programs, what you've done, and then we can deal with the corrupt files.

Sorry - All traces of old downloaded PS got obliterated by my update. I am now using PS Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11. The files I have been uploading are JPEGS and some video. I rushed into PS 11 and pitifully loaded some files by dragging and dropping

Probably the most common and most useful way is to use: http://www.exactfile.com/
Unfortunately, this requires that you be proactive and run the program *before* you run into problems.

If you are knowledgeable in batch file programming (under windows):

A stand-alone program to detect corrupt JPGs is here:

As I recall, there are a bunch of other utility programs available to do this. Try searching on {file integrity verification tool
}.

HTH,

Thanx I am willing to dig. I am running an iMac and have lots of memory. Would consider emptying all the files and starting over. I was just too impatient - moving before proper preparation. Once again thanks

Yeah Steve I can pull the image from the organizer to the desk top and then open and edit with PS 11 editor. I appreciate your patience Don

I don't use Explorer or run a Mac.
If you can open the jpg's it sounds like your files aren't corrupted.
If Organizer is a is a cataloger/database it may be the database that is corrupt.

If that's the case you could delete the old catalog or database and re-import the files.

Please note all the IF'S in my message.
Since I don't use Explorer I'm just guessing.

Amazing enlightenment from reading the manuals

I just got the PS Elements 11 and Adobe Premiere Elements.

I impetuously downloaded images (not always using the PS11 Organizer ) from previous folders - before reading the manuals - believing my intuition would suffice.

Now I am trying to reconnect some corrupted files. Any suggestions would be welcomed:banghead:

donzo37, don't keep starting new threads with the same problem.
I combined your new post with this thread,

Like I already said if you can open the images it may be your database that's corrupt not the files.

Did you follow through with anything I posted?
Open up your organizer and look for options like Purge DB or Delete DB or whatever and tell us what they are.

Starting new threads wont help you, responding to our comments and questions would be a better idea

I went through a similar problem with corrupt files. In the end the only option that worked was option 3.
