I am using PS CS6 extended.

I have a stainless steel money clip that is shinny and I am trying to make the photo of it look shinny as well. The photo shows the money clip in a flat silver color. How can I make the money clip in the photo look shinny as it normally does?

I have spent 3 days on this and am at my wits end.

This is a very very poor quality image and will be difficult to do much with it. Do you have a better photo?

The original photo is 2.33 MB and too big to attach (my understanding is it can not be bigger than 2 mb)

The camera used was 8 mega pixel Canon HFS200.

the problem could be the camera, the photographer, or both

Why not just reduce the image size by cropping most of the background away from the whole photo. Why not shine a light on it, then take a picture of it with a shine there. Then you only have to improve what is there, instead of making it up.

The clip, however looks as though it has been cut from a different image of whiteness, really badly a/ copys well in my opinion. In which case you should be asking how to make smooth and clear selection of parts of the image you want to cut.

It's all in the way an object reacts to light, if it is shiny then it reflects light, if it's flat it absords light. In this case I just added a white gradient to indicate reflection.
