help with an effect

i want to create some sparkles as on the attached image.
i have a very similar brush, but my sparkles don't seem realistic as these ones (tried blending options - outer glow and drop shadow, but it isn't the same).

could anyone give me some help?

those brushes are great, thanks. but i still can't get the exact same glow as on the pic i attached.
