Hello, I´m right in the middle of thing that I have been trying to make and it has taken me all day already. I´m kind of following a tutorial but I using other things and trying to do it a bit differently.

I just learned how to group layers, but now I´m supposed to duplicate the group and merge. It says "go to Layer, merge group" I can´t see that it says merge group ANYWHERE, all I have is the regular " merge downwards" (or whatever it´s called in English) and "merge into one layer", should I be using this or is there a "merge group" thing I can go to?

I´m scared to death that I am going to screw something up and lose all the work I´ve been putting into this thing. lol. Anyone know? :)

bottom part of layers window .......see folder create group, after that add the layers you want in it

Thank you Idad! I created a group with the folder at the bottom of the layers panel ("create new group") then I duplicated it like I was supposed to, but now I am supposed to "merge group" and all I have at the bottom of the layers window is " Merge visible" and "merge into one layer", it doesn´t say "Merge group" anywhere.

have you placed the layers in group folders?

Hide all the layers you dont want merged and hold Cntrl+Shift+Alt then hit the E key. This will merge all visible layers on to a new layer. You can always delete the new layer and make changes with your seperate layers remaining intact. Just checked this will also work with putting groups mergered onto a new layer.

Vafann, after you create group with all layers you need, click once on ggroup itself (activate group not layer). Like in iDad's screenshot with blue background is group. Or do what Stric9 said.
Or when you clicked on group press CTRL+E. That's default shortcut to merge.

Thank you all guys. I screwed it up, I don´t know what I did, but I didn´t get the results I was trying to get anyway, I guess it´s back to the drawing board again. Sigh. :)

Copy your psd before you try weird things you don't think will work. That way you won't need to go back to the drawing board. You'll still have a clean copy to work with

You can also save "states" of the work you do, although I am not sure if this applies to CS3. I've been told they don't save once you close the doc, but I don't use the option often so I don't know.
