How to remove white halo after adjusting curves?

Sometimes when I adjust the curves of a selection, the end result is a white halo along the borders of the selection. I've tried feathering the mask or shifting the edge but that doesn't seem to help. How can I better blend my selection with the rest of the image after curve adjustments that gives a more natural result?

For example:

After

See the white outlines between the water areas and the land? I made separate selections of the water and the land so there are several curves masks in there. How do I make it so the separate selections blend better together?

Thanks!
