Many people are better 'Shoppers than I am, but not many have been at it longer. I started with a turnkey image manipulation program called the Autographix Image Capture System in 1987, when Photoshop was just a gleam in Knoll's eye.

For 25 years, I did illustration, publications design, image manipulation, 3D modeling and multimedia programming for an in-house corporate art department. Engineering company. Not as awful as it sounds. Actually, it was a blast.

Two years ago, I quit my job, moved from Boston to England and got married. I've subsisted on little bits of illustration work ever since...until my desktop computer died. Eh. So I've just scraped together some of the last of my savings to buy a shiny new bzillion-core dedicated Photoshop machine. It's in the mail. Stupid snow storm.

I was always too busy hitting deadlines to do tutorials or explore much. I learned just enough of any program I worked with to do the job at hand. I'd like to change that, now that I have some breathing space. Umm...and also figure out how to make some dang money (there's not an entrepreneurial bone in my body).

Whew. So, hello! Looking forward to exploring your tutorial section.

WOW, that was an awesome introduction. I too am an OLD Dog. If 54 is old. Welcome in, I look forward to seeing and reading your stuff.

Yep, we're about the same age, TerryC. I always felt incredibly privileged because I entered the field two years before the company got its first desktop computer. I started (1983) with ink and markers and stat machines and waxed galley and got to see the whole digital revolution unfold. It was such an interesting, exciting time in commercial art.

If you're older than us and riding dirt bikes, you've got no reason to feel old. Geez, I can get a concussion just running the vacuum.

LOL Yes I suppose you are correct. I have a mate that is 70 something and still does major bike touring all over the world

Hi sweasel and welcome to the bunch!
Me and iDad was on the idea to make a Grumpy Old Farts members group since I'm kind of 55-ish and I think there's more members around the same - but we scrapped it. As you've been around since 1987 (that's 10 years ahead of me) I guess you've actually got a trick or two to teach us, but starting out with the tutorial section is a good idea and from there you need just ask.

55-ish + LOL

btw I tried creating a Grumpy Old Farts
I don't think groups work
