Hello

I'm an old person, well not that old, but I do feel old because I now utter the words "In my day!".

In my day (see!), I grew up using Deluxe Paint and then Paint Shop Pro. I found both very intuitive, but never really got to grips with Photoshop, something which with your help I'd like to change.

Thank you

Jackhulk

Welcome Jack! There are plenty of us older folk here and some that may also use the words, "Back in my time..." and other phrases we heard our parents use and swore, "When I get old......."!

Photoshop is a challenge for all ages. In my day we didn't have the internet which could provide us with a massive knowledge base and friendly helpful advise and guidance anytime day or night! Good luck and most of all, have fun!

Thanks guys! I never thought I'd make it to 'parent' age, let along so quickly! How time flies!

One question, is it not possible for newbies to edit their own posts straight away? I checked FAQ and says it's possible (unless admin disabled option), but I cannot.

Check after you have 6 posts. I know that you will be able to post links after 6, not sure about edits though.

I think edits are possible after 8 posts . . . Back in the day, I used to remember little numbers like that. Now I'm happy to be able to add 36 and 18 in my head. Welcome to the forum Jack. I came to digital art from drawing and painting about 12 years ago. I still paint abstract stuff now and then (must get back to it someday as it is a whole different kind of art, for me a kind of meditation).

We're here because we love Photoshop and similar programs, because we like to help others learn to love it as much as we do, because we like to share our work, and enjoy the camaraderie. I hope you'll join in. We have great challenges, some spontaneous from our members, some "official," and plenty of requests from those who don't have our skills but hope we'll use ours for them. Enjoy!

At last, I can edit posts now (a feature I really need!).

Hi ibclare! ibJackhulk, how do you do? :) I like the idea of painting meditation! I'm a bit of a geek and spend most of my time glued to a screen of some sort, but would like to revisit my creating side AND also learn to meditate, so perhaps I should give abstract painting a try!

Hawkeye, what is 'developer, stop bath and fixer'? I think you're showing you age now! I'm starting to feel like a young puppy here.

BABY! Guess you never developed your own 200/24 ISO film. Now there was some solarizing you could do. Hawkeye, we're antiques I guess!

I used to shoot Plus-X 125 ASA mostly.
I had to shoot a band in a club and the singer was black.
Pushed the film to 3000, came out great, I still have the photo in a binder.

Oh BTW, welcome Jack. :)
