My first post on this forum!

I'm using CS5 on trial, but I will be purchasing it within the next few days. This is quite a step forward as I've been using PS7 for about the last 10 years.

When I was using PS7, .psd thumbnails would have a PS7 logo on them (both of my computers are Windows). This was really handy, as I could tell at a glance if the image was a .psd. Is it possible to get CS5 to do this as well?

While I don't know exactly what your trying to imply but I do know that CS5 has its own set of icons as well.. though they do differ of course from the PS7 version. Also yes it does let you know from a glance exactly what kind of file it is.

Maybe I'm not explaining it well... Basically, with my old PS7, in Windows Vista and Windows 7, when I open a folder of images the thumbnails of the .psd files will have a PS logo in them. I often have quite a few thumbnails in my folders, and this little feature has been handy in identifying at a glance which are .psd files. No big deal really, just a feature I have found handy, and was wondering if there's a way to have CS5 do this.

Are you referring to actually being able to see your image thumbnails inside of windows explorer? With PS5 the only thing visible aside from browsing in bridge is the actual icon itself, for instance a PSD file has a big PS within a blue container and on the top left corner of the icon it will display its file type in this case psd and so on and so forth. As far as seeing the actual image thumbnail inside of your windows explorer it wasn't built that way. Although I'm pretty sure there are various plugins for windows that will allow you to see them without having to open them or use bridge but as far as a logo or a way of identifying them via this method- I cant say as I have yet to try any myself, try learning some bridge its very useful once mastered :)

Yes, I can see psd's as thumbnails in Windows without any plug-ins. When the folder is opened, all the .psd images automatically change to thumbnails from the blue PS icon you've described. Unless I've changed the name of the image while I was working on it in PS, the only way to tell that it's a .psd is to put the cursor over it. Again, I've been using PS7 so a lot of changes may have happened in the intervening years. It could very well be that Adobe intends us to view thumbnails in Bridge (which I have yet to use, but I'll get there, maybe soone than I think!).
