Hello Everyone! Can anyone help me? I am trying to make gift tags and labels for my son's 6th birthday & need to re-create the Lego logo using his name instead of "LEGO", but I need step-by-step instructions in Photoshop. Does anyone know a link where I can find a tutorial? Does anyone have the instructions & will share? I am relatively new to Photoshop and really want to learn, but need help.

Thanks!!!!!

I have attached the LEGO logo for reference.

Sorry, my screen recorder has malfunctioned lol....

Here's what to do.

First you will need the Lego font.

http://download.fontmeme.com/fonts/13100/legothick.html

or

http://www.dafont.com/bubblegum.font

Use this colour hex code #ff0000 for the red and fill layer.

Next layer, do your type with the newly downloaded font. Make it in white then add a stroke in black. Then hide background layer so it's just the type on a transparent background, then merge Shift+Ctrl+Alt+E, then add a yellow stroke hex code for the yellow is #ffff00

Then your good to go.

Thanks again. I finally did it!!! (Had to stop working when illness crept up on me this week.) You're the best. This is finished product. Decided to go with 'Thank You" instead of my son's name.:)

Inkz is so helpful I have read so many of Inkz posts and they are usually pretty spot on.

Hello,

I came across this forum since I had the exact same question as I am doing the same thing for my son's 6th birthday! I am very new to Photoshop and have been following the above directions. I am trying to add the black stroke to my text but the option is greyed out. I have googled this and it seems that a lot of people have this problem but none of the suggestions seem to help me. Can anyone suggest a solution for me? Thank you!

I am using Photoshop Elements on a Mac.

Thank you

Hey..

Could you take a screenshot of the panel that's grayed out and your working canvas?

I right clicked on the layer and then chose "simplify layer". Now the stroke option was available.

Hope this helps!

thank you! ok, so i figured out how to do the stroke, but my letters are white outlined with a red interior, not solid white. this may be basic, but it is my first time on photoshop.

I was able to get the letters solid by using bubblegum font instead of legothick although, I do not like it quite as much. Last thing is that when I try to add the yellow stroke it just substitutes the black stroke instead of adding it on.

I believe you have to hide all the layers apart from the text, then Merge Visible. Once this is done, adding stroke will add the yellow stroke to the outside of the black instead of replacing it.

Don't forget to unhide your other layers afterwards :)

I have also tried to do this by following your directions. I got lost at the merge and adding yellow stroke. Is it possible to explain this more? After I did the Shift+Ctrl+Alt+E the black stroke was replaced with the yellow and the inside wasn't white.

You could just rasterize the layer style and add another stroke using the same color code. That should work, this is a very old post so if you need more help just private message me.
