Hello dear ones,

I have recently been unable to open Photoshop. This error message appears:

Actions could not be loaded because an unexpected EOF (end of file) occurred.

Then I click OK, another error message appears:

Could not initialize Photoshop because the settings file was invalid( It was deleted). I did not delete anything.

Hi @DeeDee
It serms that some files have been corrupted which is somewhat concerning. I will address that last
The settings file being corrupt is likely the preferences file. Photoshop deleted the file and then photoshop creates a fresh preferences file from scratch (same as resetting preferences file). If I am correct you should not see that meassage in restarting photoshop. The Actions file being corrupted could be caused by a number of issues and can be caused by various reasons. Here is a link to review: https://www.lsp-actions.com/pages/troubleshooting-photoshop-actions#:~:text=SOLUTION%3A%20Check%20your%20version%20of,t%20available%20in%20your%20version.

It should not prevent photoshop from running it just won’t load those Actions. You may need to recover them from a system backup I hope you have done

Given the distinct possibility of corrupt files running a disk check on your system would be prudent. Strips to take droendscon your OS in use

You can always consider reinstalling photoshop. That would at least restore the default Action set that comes with Photoshop.

Hope this helps some

Hello my friend,

thanks first of all for the effort.

yes I have heard that several times now, that the preferences file is corrupted.

Yes it is, it is preventing the photoshop from running. I am currently unable to open Photoshop. Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help either. This message keeps coming up. I'm really stumped right now.

That's unfortunate.
Not sure it is the exact same problem yet this link sounds familiar. You might want to post on the Adobe Community Forum (same forum for this link) and include details about your system and version of software you are using.

Hope you get this figured out
