Would like advice please trying to salvage damaged B&W negatives

Yes.........and I fear that "content-aware" is not going to be the solution.

This is going to be a very long and difficult restoration done with selections (Pen Tool), Clone Stamp and Brush Tool.

Here are some quick effort thus far.....

This is just one small section. This will take several months of persistent work to restore.
Here is what I have done so far today - first pass only - working from the top down.

Can you explain exactly what u are doing here? After you make your selection?
I'm so sorry! I did not see this post! I have to run to work for now, but I can certainly answer this later.

I finally got back to this, and here is what I came up with!
Looks good! :thumbsup:
I will have some observations to make later!

OK. I'm working within the constraints of the selection using the Clone Stamp Tool.

As far as the Clone Stamp Tool is concerned, I am using a Wacom Tablet, tool set to "Pressure for Opacity", %50 flow rate.
Sample often and work INLINE with the natural directions of light, color, shading, and shadow.
