Is there a simple way to make fonts look hand drawn?

Duplicate the text layer.
Right click in the body of the text layer in the layers panel.
Choose "Create work path" or "convert to shape" if you want to work directly on the font.

Create a new layer.
Turn off original text layer.

Use your Pen Tool or the Path and the direct path selection tools to alter the text.

Fill the path when done.

OR....

You could follow IamSams technique to create a working path.....then....

1. Set up the 'Brush' tool with a suitable 'break-up' brush, size, spacing, scattering, rotation etc etc.
2. Add a new layer ABOVE the text layer.....and keep selected.
3. Use the 'Path Selection' tool to select the path if it isn't already.
4. Select the 'brush' tool.
5. Hit 'Enter' on your keyboard.

This will apply the 'Brush' along the path giving the effect of a 'broken' edge.

The result of this will obviously depend on how you set up the brush.

Regards.
