    JPEG woes

It sounds like you guys are talking about a subtle color change? I was having major unwanted color changes when I emailed a jpg or ?saved for web? but it may be just a quirk with my iMac & PS6. After hours of trial & error and blind clicking I came up with a fix: 1st I change the document...

    JPEG woes

[excited] Thank you guys! "Save for web" is certainly the winner. I could get it way down to 60K as opposed to 500K in "Save AS" and it doesn't look that bad! I have PS 6.1 and it's got "save for web" but I've never used it....scared that it might take me to uncharted territory Thanks...

    JPEG woes

Thanks Welles.....After I finish editing my ,psd file I flatten it and ?save as? a .tif and put it on a CD to send out for printing. Most are 8x10 inches at 400 ppi.....around 36M......4000 x 3200 pix. I usually save a JPEG for email that has the width reduced to 800 pix and the file size drops...

    JPEG woes

Gamma on PC and MAC Monitors

Thanks MindBender. I doubt if it's the lack of coffee.......I'm probably not being very clear here. I just read Rick Miller?s post about soft proof etc. and I have to admit that I don?t understand it. I?d like to learn more about it and would appreciate any guidance toward more info on the...

Gamma on PC and MAC Monitors

I'm on a Mac and made a CD of a photo without any "PC gamma correction" and when we brought it up on the printer person's PC it was too bright. Shouldn't it have looked darker? ..RC [doh] [confused]

    Printing Blues (aarrrggghh!)

:{ [upset] Howdy all, I hate this subject but it?s time to ask. After about 2 years of messing with monitor calibration and color management settings I?ve succeeded in getting prints that look exactly like what i see on the monitor in every respect except the blues. The brightness, contrast...

    CS Upgrade from 6.0.1?

:( Thanks Stu......after browsing around I?ve found that I?ll need to upgrade my OS to version X so I guess i?ll wait for CS ?till I get a new Mac (I?ve been wanting one anyway). Then I?ll just buy the full version of whatever is out at that time. Thanks again.......RC

adding a glossy paint to a "flat color"

:) Oh oh.....Thanks Squarecan. I was just messing around with a lot of different things. I made a selection with the lasso along the length of the truck near the top of the bed and added another lasso selection to the top of the cab and feathered them. Then I used curves and brightened the...

adding a glossy paint to a "flat color"

:\ If you want to keep it grey.....here's a kind of sloppy attempt at adding some reflections but I think it's shining more [confused] RC

adding a glossy paint to a "flat color"

Hi Squarecan.......here's what I came up with......This may make your truck look too light but the basic idea here was to select the truck and apply a linear foreground to background gradient of gray to white and then fade the gradient. Then use curves to tweek the contrast a bit. You can do a...

    Warming effect?

Yeah.....there's probably no set way to cover all images. I'd sure like to see that PSCS filter work though :( Hey toXin....I probably have you beat in the inept muppet dept :D [doh] RC

    Warming effect?

[excited] I just tweeked the curve on the red & blue and got close. Then I tried it on another pic and it didn't work :( 'Didn't have any luck with the gradiant overlay approach. Thanks guys.....RC

    Warming effect?

Thanks folks....I've played with all the adjustment sliders that I can think of and I can get the golden hue but I lose the other colors in the process. Actually this isn't a very good example of what I'm after. I'll try to find a better one. I'd like to see the filter in PSCS but have no way...

    Warming effect?

Hi all, I don?t know if this is legal or not but here is an example of a super warming effect (sort of a golden hue) that I?ve been seeing a lot of in magazine advertisements. Can someone tell me how to achieve this effect? A filter maybe? RC [confused]
