need to fill pen tool created shape

also, you can directly fill a path from the path palette using the "fill path" icon. (I think it is the first icon at the bottom of the path palette, you can also stroke a path if needed there also using any of the brushes, eraser etc) If have PS6, you can also use the 'custom shape...

Mark: late again !! :P heh [list] creating selections in PS is half the battle, as in , learning all the methods available, plus inventing your own methods, is one of the secrets of PS. It takes a little time, but is more than worth the effort. A combination of learning the generic...

    Blue Screen

Hi Poohfin and welcome to the forums. Instead of using the magic wand tool, have you tried the 'colour range' tool? This is found under the SELECT pull down menu. It gives you the options of specifying a colour and then using a tolerance slider and the preview window, you can fine tune the...

    transparency

yup the gif file format only supports a maximun of 256 colours, therefore an RGB document (image) needs to be converted to index mode, thereby reducing the colours available from millions down to a max of 256. This is why it is a general rule that when optimising images for the web...

    Photoshop 6.0 sick

are all your palettes hidden? pressing the tab key (on a PC at least) hides/reveals all palettes. If you can see your top menu bar, under WINDOW pull down menu you can also hide/reveal the palettes separately. Just a thought. If its not as simple as that, then finding your PS...

    Error Message

hmmm have you got the same file open multiple times in different applications? What OS (operating system) is it? If you have a file open in mulitple apps, then I think you will get this error message until the current session either becomes disassociated with the 'parent file' so to...

    Error Message

sounds like a file ownership issue. Normally, if a file resides on a server, it is checked out when opened by a user. If another user then opens the file, they usually should get a mesage saying something like that they can open this file for viewing only. Saving will not be possible...

    Metal Boy

well sorry I didnt get back to you last night! (the bar beckoned!) I searched for the original, but couldn't find a version that had all teh steps so I recreated it as best as I could remember (using the Keeper as a test subject!). It looks like I just used a curves and a levels adjustment...

    Metal Boy

Hi Indigo, Mark was pretty close. I took the original image, lifted the boy from it, and then on a copied layer of the boy, I used the channel mixer (found under IMAGE--ADJUST) with the 'monochrome' checkbox selected to make the boy grayscale. I find using the channel mixer to give me...

    Jpeg compression

I think its worth mentioning the monitors colour settings also will affect how a graphic is viewed :) And as we all know they can vary greatly heh

    Unnecessary use of Memory

Lindaw: Just a quickie but I noticed you mentioned that your view was at 66.7% Often this can cause untrue displays (distortions) when working so it is better to view at 50% or 100%. Can help in the long run especially when you go to print and things don't look the same as the original...

    Maximize work area

    Unnecessary use of Memory

just as a follow up to the exellent tip above. You can also paint on an adjustment layer, just like a mask, therefore restricting the application of the adjustment to only certain areas :)
