    I would like to reduce the range of this gradient effect so that it doesn't include pure white. As it is now, when I place the image on a white background, I can't see half of the "v" because it is white.

    Got it. Resample with "Bicubic" or "Nearest neighbour". NOT "Bilinear". What about the image mode? Can I leave it as "Indexed Color" or should I change it to CMYK?

    Here's another picture to illustrate how I would use it. Using a horizontal slither of a piece of the jar that doesn't have any label on it, I would like to be able to paste down in order to remove the label.

    Currently when I want to expand a selection, I paste it multiple times. Is there a way to paste a selection along a line? For example, in the image below, could I copy the gradient on the left and paste it down in one long line like on the right?
