CS 8 recently quitting in Snow Leopard

Dear All

Anyone else out there having this problem. Up to now everything had been running smoothly and then suddenly...... we get the "quits suddenly" straight after opening. Running on Snow Leopard. - For info no new fonts or filters or any other add ons introduced recently so isn't a new bug. Bit of a mystery really. Can anyone help?

The only thing that I could suggest is to try resetting the PS preferences
To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut: Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop

Photoshop CS (8) is very old released 2003 so I don't think you'll be able to reactivate it if you uninstall as the activation servers have been taken down
