Enlarging 8-bit pictures?

Hi! Simple-Question: Whenever I enlarge a 8-bit picture it loses its 8-bit quality and turns out extremely blurry. How do i avoid this?
 
How are you determining the problem comes from the image being 8bit?
Enlarging an image will cause loss of quality, detail and contrast even if your using the proper interpolation selection.

The difference between 8 bit and 16bit is basically color depth per channel.
 
if it is just a basic enlargement say upto 50% you can get away with photoshops own image enlargement just makesure you go to image>size increase by certain percentage or what ever method you choose but makesure at the bottom you have selected bicubic best for enlargements if it is a significant enlargement you are after then you will want a plug in like onone perfect resize by far the best image resize software I have used
