Illustrator to Photoshop - but keeping the layers

Hi,

I wanted to find out how to import a file, which I have created in Illustrator, into Photoshop, but keeping the layers in tact.

Has anyone any ideas?

You have to export the AI file from Illustrator to PS.

What PS or CS do you use?

CS4, it never seems to keep the layers even though I export from AI to PSD

Try saving your Illustrator file as a native .AI file and then import it as a Smart Object in Photoshop using File->Place or File->Open as Smart Object.

From what I know, there's an issue with CS4 with regards to importing AI layered files .

It's not often that I use AI in PS but my workaround was to copy paste. Similar to this .....
