HI

I'm Looking for a photoshop plug-in/filter that can "explode"/"pixelate"/"crystalize"...
but not like the default filters in PS

(i am using CS4 on PC)

Imagine an image, lets say a leaf
i am looking for a filter/plug-in that can make small cubes out of the image and then expand/explode the cubes (large pixels) so the leaf looks like a "digitalized explosion/expansion"

since i can not post links do this to see an example of the effect i am looking for:
input: world-map-basic-dots-vector into google, pick the first link at vectorstock dot com
and see the dotted world map (a simple example)

Any ideas

this could (in theory) be done by hand not using ANY effects/filters/ plugins
but it would take a long time to do and would be very hard to edit efter the cutting hs been done..

:-)

hi Moderator, sorry but i dont see how i can post images not using the URL option?

anyway i sort of came to the same effect using the "create object mosaic" in Illustrator
not excatly what i was looking for but the best thing so far :)

does not change the question though, still looking for a filter/plug-in for PS :)

Have you looked at the Tiles filter under Stylize in PS?

yes none of the default PS filter can do it
"tiles" is concept-wise the right direction
but you can't control the line spacing, ect..

i actually solved the task now by using Illustrator (object mosiac on a rasterized vector) which lets you controll the number of fragmentations, size and line spacing.

still there must be a plug-in out there which can do the trick.. :-)

the closest i have come in PS is to ad "raster dots" and use the dots as a mask for the image/graphic
but still not quite good enough...

You might check the Photoshop Exchange for an action that will suit your needs. Although searching it might be a problem as there are thousands pages of actions.
