3D New Puter, New Aps, New pics -- Wheee!

Heyhey...I missed this thread...
I'm more than very impressed with what you write. Looks superb...

Don't know whether you know, but there is now a VERY good and easy to use plugin to get poser files into cinema (8 and 9 versions). It's not free, but not expensive either, 30USD for the limited version (no P5 shaders, no anim translation), and imo more than worth its money. You can find it at
http://www.kuroyumes-developmentzone.com/interposer_ltd.html

on the same site you can find dropit, and droptofloor, two free plugins for cinema.

http://www.spot4d.co.uk/Plugins.asp

here you find easyclone, and some other super free plugins for cinema

whew...you know with which to start? I would be (in fact: I am still) overwhelmed by so many tools...

Just thought of another great one, in fact, perhaps the most important one:
http://www.renderosity.com/homepage.ez?Who=umblefugly&Form.sess_id=28630427&Form.sess_key=1106951695

umblefugy has written a plugin (scroll down on the page to download) that allows to open the pdf manuals directly from within cinema.

and at

http://www.cybergooch.com/pages/c4d/noise/c4d_noise.htm

you find a good overview of the various types of noises.
hint: if you want to download, take a sheet of paper and write down the name of the pages you see in the infobar. It's always the same, except for the noise name. Type this in your browser, and only the right-hand page will open. Download, and enter the next noise name etc etc...

and as an extra, a radiolaria-like shape I created a few days ago. Use it, abuse it, disect it, whatever...it's all fine! (due to the restrictions in size I cannot upload an image...this is boring! and I did reduce it to 799x599pixels)
And don't forget to have fun!

:(| Ahhh, Nitro, that's a bummer about your getting the flu bug!!! Well, take it easy and get well FAST! ;) :D

:D WOW, Erik! B7 Thanks so much for taking a look at these 3D newbie pics I've done, and for all the very cool links to the great plugins, and also for the cool file of yours to check out and play with!!! :righton: I will definitely look into all those links as I really don't have anything like those to use with C4D except just what it came with. I am just starting with beginning tutes now in C4D as I got a book called "The Cinema 4D R8 Handbook" by Adam Watkins, that I found through Amazon.com. This should be a good place to start at least. I have really just played with the ap and discovered its interface is pretty intuitive and easy to use (I like to just explore and see what kinds of things I can do and find with the aps before reading the manuals and tutes -- I'm a bit weird that way)and I have also gotten Silo (Very very FUN) which I think between the two of them ought to take care of teaching myself modelling techniques and giving me more ideas. I am using C4D's renderer for Silo. I have also to finally get into ZBrush2 which I loved playing with before I found my old puter couldn't deal with it. Right now I am just soooooo excited by what fun Vue4Pro is (and how nicely it plays with Poser5 -- whew, the incredible things that you can do with those plain old models! I love Vue! I haven't needed to even open the manual to figure out how to use it, for me it is just so intuitive) and plan to upgrade it to Vue5 Infinite when that comes out, and also get the upgrade to Terragen (I've just played with the recent version of Terragen and love it as well) also when it's finally released. There are a lot of aps for me to learn but it is all just so incredibly fun I can't stay away from it now for barely a moment! 8D

Again I thank you, Erik -- for all this great info and help, and also for helping me in my quest to choose a new puter! :D

Oh and I am having FUN!!! 8D 8D 8D

I can well understand that!
It must feel like having found the secret key to open Ali Baba's cave.

I guess you dream about it at night (if you find time to sleep that is...)

Always good to know happy people!

:D You are right about all of it! And I don't think I will ever get any more sleep from now on. :bustagut:

Here's one I did playing with the file you offered...I liked the shape and got to playing with texturing and lighting (just a terrible amount of FUN!)and so this ended up being the first experiment with it just along those lines. Will try other things and reshaping with it too. Loads of fun with it = thanks Erik! :D

This pic is much brighter and lighter in colors in the original larger size - hated to cut in down so small..... :(|

The silver cyber crows are free! And so am I. 8D

(the clear golden and purple crystal objects were made with Erik's Radiolaria model)

:D Thanks, Erik!

Yep, I used three 3D aps on this one (C4D, Poser and Vue) it's all 3D! = with 292 objects, 3 lights and 1,104,274 total polygons!) There's no way my old puter could have dealt with any of these aps, let alone render something like this. Rendering time wasn't bad though, a little over a half hour for the original large version. This small posted version I used PS to reduce to the allowed size.

:righton: :D Welcome welcome i hate yngwie! Yeah, it's a great group here -- enjoy! B7 Thanks also for giving this a look and a comment. :D

hey no problems mate ;)

i havent actually looked into any 3d programs, ive been reading alot on Photoshop, and having heaps of fun experimenting with it

id love to learn how to make 3d graphics some day, but ill stick with photoshop for now

:D Hi Tyler! (long weekend 8D ) The 3 scenes, except for the canyon one, are created using VUE 4 Pro (I upgraded to VUE 5 Infinite version of the app soon afterwards, which is a 3d scene creation app which works very well with other 3d apps -- for example if you wanted to import models created in another app or use Poser 3d models these also can be brought into the 3d scenes built in VUE). The canyon terrain was created using the free app Terragen. This is also a lot of fun to use and experiment with. Some very realistic imagery can be created with it...you can save out your terrains and use them like you would any photos you've taken of actual scenery and then do your PS magic with them. ;) I'd recommend checking out Terragen if you ever become interested in this sort of thing. B7

cool thanks for that!

ive got poser 4 at the moment, and ive been having a little trouble installing Victoria3.0..

ill figure it out, i'd like to incorporate poser models with photoshop before i start getting into making 3d terrain
(that kind of didnt make sense lol)

:D Sounds like a plan -- there's loads of tutes and helpful people regarding all things Poser over at Daz3d.com. The forums there are extremely active and someone always has answers for any problems that might crop up. Also RuntimeDNA and the forums at Renderosity.com has some info and awesome items that might inspire and be of help too.

Hi Maya,

I use to work with Vue 4, but i want to purchase Vue 5 Infinite,
and i am quite curious about your experiences with the software.

Thanks,
Nikkie

:righton: Hi Nikkie! I also used and loved Vue 4 before upgrading to 5 Infinite. There's sooooo much more that 5 Inf. can do though, that I'm very glad I got it. They now have a demo available for 5 Inf. and I would say give it a try, that way you will be able to decide if it is best for you. There's also an update patch which helps the full version of 5 Inf. work better. It can be a bit picky at times with importing Poser stuff but ususally everything works well if you group your textures and everything together then import that file into Vue. Some older lighting arrangements in Poser once in a while act weird, but usually there's no problems. Vue 5 Inf. uses lots of memory....so that's another reason to try out the demo on your machine first. ;)
