Hi all,

I have a png file of a signature like the attachment. I want to lose the white background and change the signature colour from black to something else like green or blue.

Any suggestions please?

Thank you :)

create a new solid color layer under that one > make the top layer mode overlay mode should do it

sorry i thought i read you wanted to change back ground color
to change text color if it is rasterized
select it > copy it> paste it to a new layer>use color overlay filter>(select the color) >delete the lower layer> save as .png or .gif all done.

Make the background layer a normal layer, alt+dbl click the layer. Use the magic wand tool and click on the white color, once selected hit delete. Add a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer and check the colorize box. Adjust the sliders to get the color you want.

iDad, thanks for your reply. I have managed to change the signature from black to blue (file attached) but can you please tell me how I can get rid of the blue background so I can have the sig as a png file with no or transparent background?

Normally I would select the area I want to keep and then layer / new layer via copy but I think the signature is an awkward area to select.

Thanks :)

Yeah magic wand is what I needed for selecting, thank you :)
