Excellent job Paul!
When I tried it I came very close to your result without the use of any PS or other filters, though I didn't get the details in the beard and breast hair like you. I wonder how you did it?
Nice dodge and burn job on the face. Overall very cool work!

Thanks Chris, but i did not use dodge or burn on this one it is all my mates smudge and liquefy, with colour adjustments only, i made a new layer of the image in de saturated mode and then sharpened slightly and darkened then applied to other layer via a 60% soft light effect.
