But, if you or anyone out there have a good method for selecting hair, why not go for a new background. I've never found a really good way - I saw a tutorial once, using brush strokes with a tappered end to simulate the fly-away hairs. However, it's an excellent picture as it is
 
Yeah I'm having alot of trouble selecting around hair in other pictures too
 
I've also heard of a smudging technique. I tried it on a limited basis. Worked OK (for my skills), not great.

Here is a tut that works well if the BG is part of the document; in other words you're not looking to make a selection to use in another doc. It seems to work pretty well. I'd be interested in what others say if they try it or have tried it.

Nice job. I think the image could be a tad bit brighter. As, it shows a bit orange still. Maybe put a blue filter on it and adjust?
