The first 5 plugins I install when starting a new Wordpress is:
1. TinyMCE advanced - good wysiwyg
2. All in one SEO - great for adding metatags
3. Bulletproof security - VERY IMPORTANT!! ..my site got hacked prior to finding this plugin! NOT FUN!!
4. Display widgets - display widgets on certain pages only
5. Black studio widgets - tinyMCE wysiwyg for widwidget archers
