Hello everyone

Im trying to design a title screen for a project and what i want to do is turn this picture of a castle [/IMG]

Into just an outline (to make it look like its been drawn in pencil) that i will put on top of this background [/IMG]

I have no idea how to achieve this so i turn to you good people for help. Im using photoshop Version 12.1 CS5 extended and Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi P-gon,

Although I prefer the method that Steve linked you to, here's another way:

1. Choose a photo.
2. Image > Adjustments > Desaturate
3. Filter > Stylize > Find Edges
4. Image > Adjustments > Levels (adjust to your liking)

Thank you Steve & Sam :)

Both methods worked a charm although I didn't quite get the effect I original wanted I like the look of this effect better and below is a link to the finished product. Just a another quick question is there way to convert the picture to pencil like in this picture but in such away that only the outline is left over? In other words a way to make everything other than the edges of objects in a picture transparent?

Using Steves link...play with the amount of blur....it might be what you want.
