    Free/Cheap Alternatives to Photoshop

After reading this thread and contributing Artweaver I've had some thoughts about Photoshop, it is the easiest and fastest image editing tool ever, the professionals would soon dump it if it wasn't. I taught myself how to use it simply by 1/. trying the drop downs and 2/. failing. Looking at...

Photo Manipulation New member here, this is my last work

Hello SN, I do like the idea behind your image and I would love to buy the 'body' shirt. This is just my personal opinion I held my hand over the shirt and trousers on the left and for me the image became many times stronger, hope you don't mind me saying that. Cheers

Started as an abstract, ended up figurative

Hello Argos, Your right about the rarity, I often try some noise in an image but 99/100 reject it. What I liked about it in this instance is the way it fuzzed and broke up the sharp outlines of segments, which became even fuzzier when I added the stone wall and the rock face. Cheers and thanks...

Started as an abstract, ended up figurative

Hello Argos, Thanks for the nice comment good of you. I wasn't entirely sure about the noise sometimes when an image that contains rock does look very grainy as I reduce it in size, I thought it might just be that. I then found the PSD with the layers and yes you are quite right I did use...

    first composite

Hello Sofi, Well done, I do like the 'space man' there were two old ladies in North Wales who saw a couple of silvery figures by the roadside, just reminded me of that. As soon as I saw it I thought, Thelma and Louise'. I found that once I'd learned the tools they became a minor concern and...

Hello all, My choice would be Artweaver https://www.artweaver.de/download-en It's free and like an early version of Ps, tabbed files, layers with modes, history, all the usual tools There is a paid version for 34 Euros. Ideal for anyone who would like to use something akin to Ps to begin with...

    Hello from the UK

Hello Eggy, I agree and you are of course right, I used Ps for making Cyanotype negatives and still for doing what I did with an enlarger. For doing stuff like that I think it's the easiest and fastest program. If it wasn't I guess it would have failed years ago. Cheers and thanks for the welcome.

Started as an abstract, ended up figurative

Hello all, After finishing this one I felt a bit like Wallender's dad and his trees. Mine always end up with a figure, can't seem to get away from it. I always think that an image looks incomplete without one. Bit daft I know but then most of us can't help what we do. I find the best thing is...

    Hello from the UK

Hello all, I've been searching for ages for a forum like this one. So few people seem to be interested in making digital art montages. The ones I talk to are mostly scared of Ps. Having found montages in 1998 I spent the next 13 years doing anything but, so please don't take too much notice of...
