    Canvas resizing

Works as advertised!! Many thanks. There was a hidden gotcha due to how I ran the first test. To save time (or so I thought), I copied a file from a LR directory to a test area. Then I used the file in PS and cropped it to 4X5 and saved it so labelled. So far, so good. Then I used (Cmd-A) and...

    Canvas resizing

<<< ..."and" you want to crop within those image boundaries to a smaller total area ... >>> Actually, I want the 4 X 5 for example to fit *into* one of the standard ratios: 2 X 3 or 5 X 7. As I said above, I create a canvas using a little arithmetic into which one of the dimensions fits...

    Canvas resizing

What is the easiest way to change the canvas size of an already cropped print that is in a standard size? Sometimes I need to crop an image to a size that is not 4 X 5. Currently, if it is a horizontal image, I take the vertical height and multiply it by 1.5 to have the 3 X 2 dimension. With...

How to create a wallpaper graphic with transparent background

Solved the problem: when I drop the text layer on the transparent background and then want to save it, if I save it without flattening and use the As Copy option, all works fine. I'm not sure exactly what the as copy option does versus flattening first. \rtc

How to create a wallpaper graphic with transparent background

Sorry, I looked up a stamp layer *after* doing it and replying. The text layer is on an image, so the text and image were merged together. Not good.

I have a text graphic in a layer and I want to make the layer into is own image with a transparent background. This waht I have tried: Select and copy the text layer. Create a new Clipboard type image with a transparent background Paste the text onto it So far, so good, however when I flatten...

How to change the New image screen

When I go to new image (Cmd-N), I have a black background screen with a selection of suggested templates. I have a friend that has what I call the classic screen: white background with the regular fill in spaces for width, height, resolution, etc. How do I switch between those two screens...

Create a mask with a straight but rotated edge

Worked perfectly!! The downside is I felt on the stupid side since I have been using Photoshop enough years to have thought of the Polygon Lasso -- guess Lightroom does so much that I use to do in Photoshop that I have forgotten some of the "tricks". With appreciation... Todd

Create a mask with a straight but rotated edge

Sorry, I was not clear about what I want to do and I may not be using the correct approach. I want to use the Clone Stamp Tool to remove the reflection from the document. Since the reflection crosses a straight line, it would certainly help if I could create a mask with a straight edge. Todd

Create a mask with a straight but rotated edge

I am using the stamp tool and need to go up to a straight edge (i.e a picture frame). If I use the rectangular marque tool then use the transform to rotate it, the background rotates with it. I'm missing something... Thank you... Todd

Can the tools panel be docked on the bottom rather than the left?

I thought that I have seen the tools panel docked on the bottom. If that is possible, how is it done? I tried searching for this question, but to no avail. Todd
