    When you merge the 'Overlay' layers, the resultant is set to Normal and 100% Opacity by default. The merged layers may have transparency but the actual layer is set to 100%. It is usually better to retain the layers until you have finalised the image. Cheers, Al.

    I'm pretty sure Welles. Compare the swatch in my last post with Robert's sample. The colour jump at the red/ yellow section is close. I tried altering the profiles, prefs, cache settings etc. and nothing really spectacular happened. Cheers, Al.

    Reset the colour swatches to default in the option dropdown. You have probably loaded WEB HUES which are pretty. Pretty but generally useless for normal working. ;) Cheers, Al

    Here's my snaps of trying to replicate the problem. OSX 10.3.6, PS 701. I use the Adobe (ACE) engine rather than ColourSync as there is a glitch in the black. Monitor default profile. Relative Colourmetric I suspected the RGB / sRGB gamuts but I can't get the extremes which are shown...

    You can save several custom views. Up to 10 I think(?) Maybe a full view and several zoomed in views. For example if you had a document with different elevations of an object, you could have a custom view for each elevation. Cheers, Al.

    For the Mac there is SnapzPro from Ambrosia Software. Captures: screen, objects & menus, selection and live screen movies with the option of sound recording. Formats: jpg, pdf, pict, psd, gif and png. Excellent utility for people needing a bit more for tutorial captures. Al.
