Specific Change/Add Text Into Photo

Im asking for a big favour, my friend lost his brother who was a massive liverpool fan, I'm wanting to add his name to the stand instead of the 96.
i want the image to look like the fans in the stand are holding up this display. I'm hoping to get this printed on A3 paper so i need the highest quality of photo if possible
here are the images below.
if some one is kind enough to help me out please could you send me the psd file.

Seems like a really interesting one to do, but unfortunately really don't have time to do it right now... at first look seems like a really hard one to do a good/realistic job... if you don't have experience on photoshop I don't advice to do it yourself , be patience I'm sure someone will give it a try, if not I will try it if I get some free time...

Thanks for the reply mate! I’ll just keep playing around for the time being. Hopefully someone fancies a challenge and has time
 
I gave this a try but I'm not pleased with the outcome. We really need a higher resolution photo than the one you provided. I did an image search and could not find one.

You basically need to use the Clone Stamp Tool to remove the existing signs. This would be the starting point.

Create the lettering, make a selection from that lettering.

Fill in new new signs within the selections using the Clone Stamp Tool.
I used the original yellow signs from the 9 and the 6 as a clone source.

Thank you for your time and effort to try this! I appreciate it. Looks good but it’s a shame about the quality as you mentioned. What size image will be best quality for a a3 print?

Well...............A3 is about 3508px x 4961px (print res)...............your image is 1200px x 673px.

The checkerboard area is A3 size (Horiz).

So you would have to scale the image up to the the A3 size.
You will lose some of the sides of the original.

Nice attempt, my advice for improvement is to make a lot of zoom and erase or add the corners of the letters according to the panels, not sure if its understandable what I'm saying XD
 
I agree with David, the edges of the lettering are too well defined............that would not happen with real signs.

finally got around to tidy my image up, what do you all reckon?

now, any ideas on how to turn this into a remembrance piece?
