Moderator's note: The earlier "for when you get them open" comment (Post #9) is relevant to this thread, but IMHO is not the best method to get the color of the new irises correct.
Presumably, @
thisisme is suggesting that since the color balance of the various photos vary from each other, it might be necessary to adjust the eye color of the "donor", open eyes to match the color balance of the image into which they are to be inserted (aka, the "receiving" image).
Since these are small images, very few pixels are present in the irises, so it's easy to make a mistake when measuring and adjusting their color. Besides, since you don't know the color that they really should be in the "receiving" image, what color do you make them / match them to?
Rather than do it this way, I think most experienced photoshoppers would instead match the color of the skin around the eyes in the "donating" image to that in the "receiving" image, not just the irises. This would be much easier to do, and could be done more accurately. Then, the new irises should automatically have the correct color.
