    Extremely simple question about avatars.

So, I can be pretty dense at times. I did attempt to get my avatar to display on multiple occasions... but I cant get it to work. Would someone please tell me how to get my avatar to show up in my posts? If you want to laugh at me a little bit thats ok, I'm fine with that. Thanks!

    Montage/Collage for retiring pilot

i agree with the dates... maybe you could say something like "40 years of service!" Nice looking poster though.

    Self Portrait Help Request

Spent about three Cure albums worth of time on this guy. I did a lot of smoothing. Removing blemishes with the healing brush. Evened out tone roughly with a mixer brush treatment. Transformed this dude a little bit to reduce the focus on his hand. Evened out color/ tone further with adjustment...

    Bison

Truly professional work. Without going over it zoomed in to 400% the main thing that stands out to me is the slight smudgy look behind the right most bison.

    Faded Airforce Photo

Really nice job, top notch. I like how you handled the trees in the background.

    W Barcelona

Neat, I think these images are pretty well comped together. I think the main shot of the building could be a little bigger. Were you trying to keep the lower left portion of the building in frame? I like how the main and the bottom right images work together. Not sure how i feel about the way...

    Paths Tool

Agreed, you just need to patient and trace exactly. Now, on the off hand that you used a font as a start for your logo annd you have illustrator or indesign... you could convert your text to outlines making a perfect path of your letters. then all you would have to do is connect the A and the...

    Tiff files

Well, i know for a fact if you save it as a .psd you can retain your layers and transparency. So if you are going to use these images in indesign or illustrator (not sure about quark) you would be good to go. I cant speak for .png's, i dont use them much... i know they will retain transparency...

I need to get the ''Spartacus Effect'' on my pictures!

My guess on one of the techniques used to get this effect is a hi pass (with a high radius) layer using overlay/softlight/hardlight blending mode. from the looks of these pictures there is probably some balancing of the tonal values (opening dark shadows ect.) and who knows what else. take a...

    Create Frozen Effects HELP!! :(

This is a little off topic. I really like using gradients to modify layer masks and alpha channels. I suggest trying the "foreground to transparent" setting on the gradient tool to fade out portions of a mask while leaving the unfaded parts alone.

    Designing Press Pass

When you are deciding on your image size you need to think about the requirements of your final product. In the new document dialog box just beneath the dimensions you can find the resolution. If you intend on printing, try setting it at 300 ppi (dpi). If this is for viewing on a a screen you...

Struggling to get better at this... Critique please

Not a bad try. Is the subject of this image is supposed to be climbing up the side of a building? To me it looks more like he is climbing a steep hill. Maybe if you find an image that is pointing more downward to place behind the subject it would provide more of the look that i think you are...

    [HELP] Gradient Inversion?

Or try an invert adjustment layer with a gradated layer mask.

    Rate my grphic please

That is up to you. Lens flares can add a subtle design element and break up some space... maybe you could experiment with some cloud/fog/gradient? I just kind of feel like lens flares are a bit played out and over used, that is just my opinion though

    Rate my grphic please

Nice background, nice use of font and effects. i really like the sparks, the contrasting colors are good. Not a big fan of the lens flare though. ill give this a 7 out of 10.

    Restoring pallet locations

iDad is correct. Once you have your palettes laid out the way you would like, just go to window/workspace/new workspace. do this for your single monitor setup then your dual monitor setup and then you'll be one click away from knowing where everything should be! A list of your workspaces can...

    Fixing hard shadow line..

I started by making a decent selection on the shadow side of her face and making a curves adjustment layer to open/warm the shadow. made a couple more adjustment layers to take care of problem areas, carefully painting a layer mask to even out the tone a bit. Finished up with some cloning and...

My Before and After series 8 (Recoloring B & W)

I cant resist, i love doing these. I started by finding some references for color, then got into cutting masks and creating layer groups for each element. Then i just filled up those groups with levels, curves, hue/sat, selective color. did the blending with layer masks and the "blend if"...
